As some of you may know at the beginning of the year we added a “new” gel polish system in to the salon. I say “new” as I had originally purchased this system the year before, but due to other commitments and a very busy time in the salon I didn’t get the chance to really try out this range.
After speaking to a number of different salon owners, beauty therapists and nail techs I decided to give it another go and spend some more time with in salon training and getting the hang of this new system- using CND Shellac since qualifying, this system felt very different to use for us as the nail technicians.

So, what is Gel ll and what is the difference to CND shellac??…

Well, both are gel polish systems offering weeks of perfect looking nails and both are applied and cured with a UV or LED lamp. BUT, Gel ll has no base coat needed- making the application process much quicker.
Gel ll has a HUGE range of colours to choose from as well as; two shine top coats, matt top coat and reaction colour changing ranges.
As the nail technicians, we have have seen that Gel ll seems to have more of a shine and a longer lasting shine but apart from that- both systems look very similar on to you, the customer.

Our personal experience with Gel ll…

One concern and problem we have come across with customers wanting to wear a gel polish is that they find they cannot get the full 14 day wear out of it. We have found that offering Gel ll to these customers has allowed them to get longer (if not the full two weeks) out of their gel polish manicure and after every manicure they have seen an improvement on their wear. Not only have our customers been getting a longer wear out of their polish but they have also seen an improvement in their natural nails with customers finding their nails to be stronger, less brittle and less dehydrated looking (white spots on the natural nails.)

So, what about our CND Shellac range…

Don’t panic! We are still offering our CND shellac, we just like giving you the option to choose between two systems, a wide range of colours and styles and the chance to improve your natural nails! We want to offer our customers as much as we can ad having two systems in the salon allows us to do this.
