A dry skin type needs or lacks natural oil. This skin type usually presents as a clear complexion with fine, small pores and a smooth even skin tone.

Dry skin types rarely have problems with spots/blackheads and because of this, it can be very easy to feel like you do not need to do much with/for your skin.

With lack of care, a dry skin type may become very dry and milia can appear.

Milia are small hard white spots that are usually most often found around the eyes. These hard white spots sit under the skin and cannot be squeezed. Milia is trapped oil (not a spot or blackhead- this is dirt) which is built up in tight pores and hardens.

So how can you treat milia?

Your skin needs oils, hydration and water and milia will begin to soften. Using the Katherine Daniels Deep Cleansing System on a low setting around the eyes and really working and massaging your mouisturiser into those areas.

Dry skin types may look smooth but are often rough to touch. This is because the skin is holding on to dead skin cells to form a protective barrier. Products (concentrates and mouisturisers) may then just sit on the skins surface rather than going into the deeper layers. This is why you may feel like products leave your skin feeling greasy or that they do not absorb.

If neglected, dry skin types may become sensitive. Very often, people with dry skin types have the attitude of ” if it’s not broken, why fix it?” But if the skin becomes sensitive it will become intolerant to to the environment and products which may cause capillary damage and redness.

Ageing Of Dry Skin.

The ageing process begins in our early 20’s but visible signs of ageing cannot be seen until late 20’s- early 30’s. Dry skin types show expression lines earlier than other skin types due to the lack of natural oils in the skin and may become thin and papery if not cared for.
